About the Item
English Regency ormolu mantel piece objects of American Indians. The male sits upon a tortoise and has a bow in one hand and an arrow in the other. He has a quiver of arrows on his back and feather head dress. The female also wears a head dress and sits upon a camel. Beside her are a burning brazier and she exposes one breast. Both figures sit on plinths decorated with finely detailed leaf patterns either side of diamond shaped cells enclosing forget-me-not flowers. The lower base is of patinated bronze while the rest is beautiful soft English ormolu. Charming and naïve.
