Rare Two Tone Royal "P" Portable Typewriter, c.1928

About the Item

About An antique Royal "P" portable typewriter. Very rare in two tone high gloss black and maroon. The keys are nickle and glass with white background and black letters. This typewriter has smooth typing and the carriage moves properly. New ribbon. It has retained its original finish with minor blemishes. Some flaking of finish on the top left. Serial #P108429. Not serviced. Creator Royal Typewriter Company. Date of manufacture c.1928. Materials and techniques steel, metal, nickel. Condition good. Wear consistent with age and use. Case is in fair condition as it's missing the leather covering. An attempt to match the color on the top left occurred sometime in its lifetime. Dimensions H 5 in. W 12 in. D 12 in. History The Royal Typewriter Company was founded by Edward B. Hess and Lewis C. Myers in January 1904 in a machine shop in Brooklyn, New York. The advertising and marketing in the 1930s for this model stated "Designed for children, housewives and letter writers.".
