About the Item
This artwork is a multiples limited not numbered specimens created by the Italian artist Ugo La Pietra, a well known Internationally artist. This pieces are useful as candleholders.
Ugo La Pietra was born in Bussi Sul Tirino (Italy) in 1938. Starting from late 50's his artworks were exhibited in important and Internationally Museum, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Museum of Contemporary Craft in New York, Royal College of Art, CCA Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal, are a few between a lot of them.
He founded in 1962/1963 an artistic group "Cenobio group" which art was an experimental way to be artist, to the opposite of the Pop Art and Kinetics art, with a language that came trought the conceptual art, narrative art, artistic architecture, neo-eclecticism. He won twice the important prize, Compasso D'Oro for his works.

Ugo La Pietra
Ugo La Pietra is an Italian architect, designer and artist and he defines himself as a "researcher of visual art". His activity as a researcher began during the 60s when he founded "Il gruppo del Cenobio" (the group of Cenobio) with Agostino Ferrari, Ettore Sordini, Angelo Verga and Arturo Vermi. It was a brief, but intense experience and they represented the only group from Milan who developed the so-called signic movement in contrast with the other cutting-edge groups specialized in pop art, objects, kinetics. La Pietra experienced the synaesthesia between the arts. La Pietra took part in more than 900 personal and collective exhibitions and he exhibited his works in the most important Italian and foreign museums.

Margit Wittig has used her sculptural skills to create beautifully-crafted, well-proportioned candlesticks, which are compositions of her unique signature pearl-shaped designs.
Each candlestick begins as hand-sculpted spheres which are used to create moulds in three sizes. Margit refers to these finished spheres as pearls. These highly original, eye-catching candlesticks come in three different sizes depending on the number of pearls: three, five and seven.
The candlesticks are cast in resin and Jesmonite mixed with pigment at the start of the process, to ensure color consistency. Some of the candlesticks are subtly finished with hand painted gold patina to reflect the shimmer of the candle. Each one is made with a solid brass drip catcher and can be cast in a variety of colors.
