About the Item
This tall "Modern Totem" sculpture consists of softly rectangular rings stacked one on top of the other, on short angled feet. Another smaller angled foot shape is replicated above under the top oval. Each part is made separately by hand, then attached before the first firing. A special metallic black/gray glaze was applied before the second firing. The glaze is rich and creamy, yet not too thick to disguise the hand markings and occasional shiny brownish color. This variation adds depth to the tones in the surface. It was made as one in a trio of 3 similar pieces, two tall and one smaller but sold separately. Please note hairline firing fissures on the interior do not affect the look, strength, or longevity of this piece. In fact, they add authenticity. Signed with Artist's signature chop at inner bottom. Special discount when all three are purchased together.

Helena Starcevic Ceramics
Helena Starcevic Ceramics produces work that straddles the line between fine and decorative art. Each piece is one of a kind, hand-built entirely by the artist in her New York studio. Taking inspiration from the natural world, Ms. Starcevic's work includes references to the stark beauty of the desert, prehistoric cave paintings, and the human form (within and without). Everything is filtered through Ms. Starcevic’s own singular aesthetic, at once quiet yet strong, meditative, and beautiful. Pieces are made in different clays and finishes, and at different scales. Groupings are available. Helena Starcevic’s ceramic pieces are held in private collections across the US and Europe. She has held numerous residencies including one at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City.
