'All eyes on you' steel sculpture (Dutch design, 2018) by Paul&Albert
About the Item
Nothing goes unseen anymore. Anonymity is history. And secrets do not exist. How safe do you feel?
This sculpture raises questions about privacy, personal space, and the boundaries of surveillance in our contemporary society.
It reminds us of the delicate balance between our need for security and our desire for freedom and anonymity. Through the eyes in the cameras that "follow" the viewer, it almost seems as if the artwork itself possesses a form of consciousness. A reminder of the idea that we are constantly being observed, be it by security cameras, social media, or other contemporary technologies.
All eyes on you is made of gold-yellow powder-coated steel and stands on a concrete base, as if it has been removed straight from the urban landscape. On the pole, there are twenty fake cameras. Each camera features a pop-art eye made of lenticular material. Due to the lenticular material, the eyes appear to come alive, as when you walk past the sculpture, one or more eyes always follow your movement.

Paul&Albert
Paul Mulder and Albert Buring met at the Minerva art academy in Groningen, where they both studied graphic design. After some years of cooperation there was a gradual shift from graphic to spatial work. They began to execute their concepts more and more spatially, with the graphic work slowly fading into the background. They found that they could express their ideas more strongly in spatial work, giving it more eloquence and value. They became fascinated by the world of art and design. In 2019, they made the rigorous decision to stop their graphic design work and throw themselves entirely into making art and design. The graphic signature is still sometimes recognizable in their current work.
