Brush Stroke Stack Sculpture is a small table sculpture in Ceramic. These small stack sculptures are a contemporary iteration of traditional Korean aesthetics by the artist Soo Joo, and they bring a sense of peace and balance to the home. The timeless round ceramic forms are turned on the wheel, and carefully trimmed and stacked upon a walnut base. upon a sturdy skeletal structure made of silicone and steel, hidden inside. Its wooden base is stack-laminated walnut wood, hand-carved on the lathe.
The glaze patterning is Korean celadon glaze, and is painted by the artist and unique to this specific sculpture.

Soo Joo Studio
Soo Joo is a Korean-American artist who works in Seoul, Korea and New York. Although she has a background in fine art, she studied Furniture Design at RISD. She develops novel biophilic design techniques and objects that bring the essence of nature indoors. "At the basic core of my work is an investigation into biophilic design: how non-living, abstract art and objects can still carry the essence of nature, through material and formal language. Through my work, I develop a new visual language that serves as an alternative to geometry, from an East Asian perspective."
