About the Item

This Unique Hand Built Ceramic Sculpture is part of a series of works referencing the spine ("Rachis" in Latin). It is fired twice, the second time with a special platinum/metallic glaze that variously looks antiqued or speckled, or bright black. The spine is made first to get an idea of how it will lay or stand. Each part is made separately, then attached to the spine. Because of the touch of the hand and the unique occurrences in each firing, this piece will always be unique, one of a kind. Especially wonderful is that it can lie on its side or stand up, allowing for the owner to create a different look depending on where it is placed. Fully handmade by the artist.
