About the Item
« Cenote », an early fine art ceramic by Robert Milnes (b. 1948). Late 20th century. A museum piece in tones of turquoise, brick, Yves Klein blue, and moss, and certainly taking cues from the Italian Memphis Milano school. This piece would work as a stunning centerpiece, atop a pedestal, or in a gallery setting. I cannot speak to its’ functionality- for instance, using as serverware - but my gut tells me it’s best kept as a piece of fine art. Milnes said: “I am enough of a modernist to believe in principles, enough of a minimalist to believe in materials and process, and enough of a post-modernist to understand these are stories” - and this perhaps sums up « Cenote » best. Pick up in central west Los Angeles or we ship worldwide.

Giacomo Onestini ceramic sculpture Italy 1970
By Giacomo Onestini
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Beautiful ceramic sculpture designed by Giacomo Onestini made in his own atelier in Italy in 1970. It has a combination of matte and shiny glazed surfaces. The back and sides of the sculpture have a textured surface with shades of gray, green, and sometimes turquoise. On the front, there's a carved-out section that's smooth and glazed with red and gold hues. It's a very appealing and intriguing piece. You can find the artist's signature, "Onestini," on the side of the sculpture. This piece was created in the artist's personal studio. Very nice large sized, heavy piece and in excellent condition.
After graduating as a master ceramist, Onestini moved to San Marino where he found employment at the "Marmaca" ceramics factory. Around the end of the 1950s, he moved to Salerno and began working with the "Ernestine...
