Large Abstract concrete Sculpture by Roger Desserprit

About the Item

Unique large abstract sculpture by Roger Desserprit (1923–1985), France 1981. An imposing sculpture characterized by bold, biomorphic, fluid shapes, resulting in apowerful grounded piece. Desserprit was a significant figure in the 20th-century abstract art scene, his style evolved from geometric abstraction to a more free-form, light-infused approach. A significant evolution in Desserprit's artistic approach emerged in the 1970s. This period marks a turning point, where he allowed his lines to become more fluid and organic, as well as lighter, a shift clearly reflected in this work. The sculpture is made of solid concrete, supported by a metal frame inside. The surface has a cement plaster layer, finished with a sand-colored underlayer and topped with a structured off-white finish. Due to its material, it can be placed both indoors and outdoors. Desserprit created sculptures in concrete, bronze, metal, and wood, primarily abstract works. Works by Roger Desserprit can be found in various private collections, notably in France and Italy, as well as at the Grenoble Museum, the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, and the Musée des Ursulines in Mâcon. The work is signed at the base: Desserprit 81. In excellent original condition.
