About the Item

Henri-Paul Derycke is a French sculpture born in the North of France in 1928. He was educated in the Beaux-Arts and received numerous awards for his work including the First Grand Prize of Rome in sculpture in 1952. He died in 1998. This figurative sculpture, titled Olympia, was created by Postmodern artist, Henri-Paul Derycke and depicts a human body. At once combining Gothic, Expressionist, and Baroque influences, there is an inherent power and beauty to this sculpture making it a truly unique piece to behold. Created using a mixed technique: plaster, wood, stone, and other natural elements, this sculpture is patinated resin circa 1960- 1965. The sculpture is unsigned but will be delivered with a "Certificate of Authenticity." The monumental achievements were executed at the Villa Medicis in Rome. His works are in private collections: Germany, Belgium, Canada, Ivory Coast, France, Holland, Japan, Sweden, U.S.A.
