About the Item
Post-Modern clear acrylic Lucite obelisk. The vintage 1970s table-top monument features a curious hole at the top with a metal rod balanced through the center. The base shaft and base are faceted, allowing light to sparkle within the prism like a diamond. This Nineteen-Laties glam sculpture is a glittering accent. The ancient form evokes a sense of power and glory. Obelisks originated in ancient Egypt. The pyramid shape is no accident. The faceted, 3-D triangle is man’s way of reflecting might back toward the sun… the ultimate source of power. Obelisks remain a prominent visual symbol throughout cultures across the world.
This striking clear acrylic (Lucite) obelisk stands as a masterful fusion of clarity, geometry, and light. It evokes the spirit of modern architectural monoliths while retaining the delicacy of a sculptural object — a luminous “prism” that plays with perception without overpowering its surroundings.
The obelisk’s faceted surfaces act as prisms, catching ambient light and refracting it into internal glints and subtle rainbows. Viewed from varying angles, the form seems to shift: returning edges vanish, internal reflections emerge, the structure becomes both present and elusive. This optical quality cautions the eye to linger and reconsider.
Despite its apparent simplicity, the work is thoughtfully engineered. The base is solid and grounded, anchoring the vertical thrust of the obelisk with geometric solidity. The tapering shaft is impeccably proportioned — strong yet elegant — and any joints or transitions are almost imperceptible, allowing the eye to read it as one seamless crystalline gesture.
Condition is excellent. The acrylic remains clear and transparent, with only fine surface micro-scratches consistent with age and use — none that interfere with overall clarity or visual impact. Polishing has preserved the optical quality and buttery edge definition. Structural integrity is sound, and stability is assured.
Collectors of post-modern decorative art, minimal abstraction, and sculptural design objects will find this piece compelling. It occupies the rare in-between space of function and expression: ideal perched on a console, atop books, or used as a sculptural keystone element in a light-filled interior. In global design circles, Lucite and acrylic lighting and sculpture have been gaining traction as collectible mediums — this obelisk asserts itself within that conversation.

View AllMid-Century Modern Sculptural Clear Murano Glass Table Lamp
By Murano Glass Sommerso, Lightolier, Charles Hollis Jones
Located in Chattanooga, TN
A graceful study in form and light, this mid-century Murano glass table lamp is both sculpture and luminous centerpiece. Its elegant clear glass body, thoughtfully hand-blown, rises like a flame or organic bud—its flowing curves catching and refracting ambient glow with poetic clarity. The glass artfully envelopes a slender brass or chrome stem, which emerges subtly to support illumination, offering a dialogue between transparency, structure, and illumination.
Measuring approximately 30.5 inches tall with a 6.5-inch width and 6-inch depth, the lamp commands attention without overwhelming—its vertical composition perfect for sculptural accents in living areas, offices, or luxe hospitality interiors.
In excellent vintage condition, its glass remains pristine and luminous. The metal base shows gentle wear and patinated charm, reinforcing its authentic aging rather than distracting from its refined presence.
The lamp shade is NOT included with this listing. Please inquire if you would like to purchase the shade separately.

Clear Lucite Acrylic Pedestal Dining Table with Round Glass and Prism Center
By Charles Hollis Jones
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Step into a world where function becomes sculpture. This captivating dining table, sculpted from crystalline Lucite, commands presence through its transparent minimalism and architectural finesse. At its visual core, a diamond-shaped acrylic prism—impeccably faceted—catches and fractures ambient light, transforming each ray into a shimmering visual performance, as if the table itself were alight from within.
Rising from its pedestal base composed of intersecting acrylic planes, a 54-inch diameter tempered-glass top crowns the piece. Its beveled, polished edge enhances the sensation of a floating orb—an optical marvel suffused with both lightness and solidity. The structure measures approximately 29 inches high, with the base itself at 28.5 inches tall and a form that balances both sturdy support and visual subtlety.
The craftsmanship—while not attributed to a signature designer—recalls postmodern luminaries, akin to Charles Hollis Jones prototypes, where acrylic becomes both structure and spectacle. In natural or gallery lighting, the prism center dances—refracting and echoing each surrounding tone, making the table not merely a surface, but a choreographed experience in transparency.
Though vintage wear is present—light scratching on the glass and minor signs upon close inspection of the Lucite—these blemishes speak to the table’s lived history, adding character without undermining its elegance.
This table is ideal for collectors drawn to objects that blur the line between art and utility, for designers seeking sculptural showpieces that anchor a room without weighing it down, or for architectural interiors aiming to turn dining into an act of curated light and space.
This listing is for the table alone. The chairs are sold separately.
