About the Item

An art glass sculpture of an oversized shell designed by Treg & Candace. This is a fabulous oversized art-glass sculpture of a shell that remind us of the beach. The gorgeous piece has been created by the artists Treg & Candace Silkwood. This vintage hand-blown sculpture has been crafted in solid glass showing several Muranese techniques, such; Zanfirico, Latticino and Filigree, with many rows of very fine latticino in thick and thin ribbons of blues, white, and sand-colored. This sculptural piece is from their shells series collection, called XL Latticino Conch. This oversized piece is extremely decorative and will stand up in your home or office. Treg & Candace Silkwood Treg Silkwood was born and raised in the valley of the Yellowstone River in Montana. Silkwood earned his BFA in glass from Alfred University, and studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague and at Illinois State University. Treg has spent over twenty -five years of his life mastering the skill and art of blowing and sculpting glass. Candace has spent nearly forty years exploring numerous art forms from painting to sculpture and has over fifteen years experience working glass. Together, Treg and Candace create unique, one of a kind, handcrafted glass and sculpture largely inspired by the natural world. Their mission is to create exceptional glasswork that evokes a similar sense of wonder and awe to that they have discovered on their walks along the California Coast. By Salviati
Located in Miami, FL
Soffiato glass charger plate designed by Salviati & Co. Great decorative piece, created at the Murano island in Venice Italy by the Salviati & Co. This flat charger was crafted during the art deco period back in the early 1920 by the blown glass process. Made up in transparent amber glass with the upper rim accented by a stripe made up from blue pate d verre. Soffiato Glassblowing or Soffiato in Italian, is a glass forming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble with the aid of a blowpipe. A person who blows glass is called a glassblower, glassmith, or gaffer. The word come from soffietta, a tool used as a puffer to further inflate a vessel after it has been removed from the blowpipe and is attached to the pontil. It consists of a curved metal tube attached to a conical nozzle. The glassblower reheats the vessel, inserts the nozzle into its mouth so that the aperture is blocked, and then inflates the vessel by blowing through the tube. Salviati & Co. The company was founded by Antonio Salviati, which born in Vicenza in 1816 and died in Venice in 1890. In 1859, together with Enrico Podio and Lorenzo Radi he opened a glassware and mosaic boutique called Salviati Antonio...
