About

Vintage raku pottery sculpture of a bear sitting on his haunches and holding a copper fish by raku pottery master Tony Evans (1942-2009)Cali. Evan's distinctive style of raku pottery produced interesting fired and burnt glazes, both gloss and matte, that emulate patina, oxidation and verdigris, signed and numbered on the felt bottom. Raku is a technique of firing pieces in a 2,000 degree fire and then quickly submerging them in a pit of leaves or paper to reduce the chemical reaction on the surface, creating a broken eggshell texture or multi hued lusters of cobalt blue and copper red sheens. Dimensions: 9"H x 9"W x 7.5"D Condition: Good. No visible condition issues observed.
