19th Century Statue of a Greyhound in Bronze, in the Style of Pierre-Jules Mêne

About the Item

This sculpture of greyhound from the late 19th century is crafted in bronze and displays fine detailing of the dog’s muscular structure. The dog is standing on a base that mimics a rough terrain and is mounted on a marble base. The dog is shown in a proud stance, with a collar around its neck. It was made in the style of famous French sculptor Pierre-Jules Mêne, who is considered one of the pioneers of animal sculpture in the nineteenth century. This sculpture would be a perfect complement to a 19th century traditional commode or it would make a memorable gift for any dog lover.
