Antique Bronze Sculpture Sitting Pig, Signed L.Carvin, Around 1910, Susse Frères

About the Item

Antique bronze sculpture by Louis Albert Carvin (born 7th august 1875 in Paris - 6th January 1951). Depiction of a sitting pig. Finely chiseled. Signed at the bottom "L. Carvin" and "Susse Fr Edt" for the foundry "Susse Frères Editeurs". The sculptor Louis Albert Carvin mainly described animals, especially through episodes from la fontaine fables, but also occasionally wrote some genre scenes. His submissions to the Salon from 1891 until the 1930s consisted mainly of marble sujets. The foundry Susse Frères was a company in Paris run from 1804 to 1975 by the French Susse family, whose members over five generations were primarily involved in the manufacture and publishing of art supplies, in addition to stationery products and briefly photographic cameras.
