He studied sculpture under the sculptors Emmanuel Frémiet and Georges Gardet. He specialised in animal sculpture, and exhibited at a number of Parisian Salons in the 1920s and 1930s. Carvin created La Muse de l'aviation, a bronze trophy presented to the brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright on 1 May 1909 by Léon Bollée, President of the Aéroclub de la Sarthe. He made a bust of them for the Michelin Cup in Pau in 19082. His work Le Spleen (1934), representing a barzoi, was erected in the Maison-Blanche park in Clamart. He specialised in animal sculpture, modelling deer, hinds, lions, lionesses, panthers, birds, wolfhounds and sometimes horses, such as the group L'Accolade featuring a pair of pursangs, published by the J.B. foundry in Paris.
