About the Item
Museum quality and condition Swiss black forest sculpture.
For collectors of the rarest and finest Black Forest sculptures: this incredibly detailed, hand-carved cow could only originate from the Swiss Black Forest region around Lake Brienz. The craftsmanship is unmistakably that of a Swiss master carver. To achieve such precision and lifelike detail on a relatively small sculpture requires not only God-given talent but also a lifetime of experience.
The anatomy, posture, and balance are all rendered with absolute perfection, this work of art is truly sublime. An experienced antique dealer once told us that a great sculpture should look beautiful from every angle, and that is certainly the case with this striking cow. Some of the details are so delicate that one might think they were carved with a needle. You can clearly see the muscles and bone structure, while the rich patina is second to none.
Apart from a professional restoration to the horns, this cow is in outstanding condition. We have no hesitation in describing this rare antique as museum quality, both in craftsmanship and in preservation.
If you admire this exceptional cow as much as we do, you will also appreciate our price. Not only because we have seen Black Forest cows of lesser quality sell for far more, but also because our price includes expert packing and worldwide delivery, from our store to your door within just four days.
Maximum width x height x depth: 5.5 x 5 x 2.8 inches.
We are driven by a passion for uniqueness, timeless, quality, stylish design, and the enduring craftsmanship of the past. Every purchase is carefully and thoughtfully packed — and we look forward to serving you (again).
