About the Item
A substantial 7.25 lb natural lapis lazuli sculpture of 2 rabbits surrounding a Bok Choi symbolizing great wealth and good fortune. The statue is hand carved using the finest grade of natural gemstone quality lapis lazuli with beautiful saturated blue color and minimal white streaks and gold dust. The larger bunny on the right extends arms to hold the bok choi up while the bunny on the lower left raises it up with its left shoulder. Both bunnies with large round eyes and vivid expressions. The oversize bok choi rises to the center of the statue, depicted with multiple layers of leaves. The Bok Choi (Bai Cai), in the Chinese language, has similar pronunciation to "Fa Choi" (Fa Cai) which means "Good Fortune and Great Wealth". Lapis statue is 3" D x 5.5" W x 9" H without the stand. All our lapis gemstones are 100% natural, free of dyes or fillers.

A Chinese scholar rock carved from a natural lapis stone and displayed on a brocade wrapped stand circa late 19th century Qing Dynasty. The brightly blue lapis was considered as am exotic gemstone in China and mostly imported from Persia through the silk road. While not a conventional rock types of materials for scholar stones, it is occasionally carved and polished into smaller Gongshi to be displayed and meditated upon in the scholar's study.
