Museum quality and condition, hand carved livestock sculptures. This marvelous pair is for the collectors of the rarest and best quality Black Forest sculptures. These incredibly detailed, hand carved and large cow & bull sculptures can only be from the Swiss Black Forest region around the lake of Brienz. They simply can only be the work of a Swiss master carver, because to be able to create this much detail in a wooden sculpture takes a god given talent and a lifetime of experience. With the anatomy, the posture AND the balance being perfectly correct, these works of art is simply devine. An experienced antique dealer once learned us that a great sculpture looks good from all angles and that certainly is the case with this striking bull and cow. Some of the details are so intricate, you would think that it took a needle to carve them. Apart from the muscles and bones, in some areas you can even see the veins and the patina is second to none as well. Finding one of these sculptures would have been great, but to find the original pair in this condition really takes this pair to a level of its own. With absolutely no damage or restaurations to be found, we have no problem rating these rare antiques as being of museum quality and condition and we don't think we will ever find another pair like this. You could have them on display in the middle of your display cabinet (so behind glass), but they also make great center pieces on a credenza or mantel.
