Owl misteltoe figurine porcelain Hutschenreuther art dep Prof. Klee 1918 Germany

About the Item

Wonderful perfectly preserved owl sculpture on a pedestal, made of white porcelain, partly gilded, handmade in the world famous German porcelain manufactory Hutschenreuther. The polygonal pedestal has a gilded base, on which lie mistletoe branches, which are also partly gilded, on top of which sits the barn owl. It has a wonderfully naturalistic design, as shown by the feathers and body. The owl figure is also partly gilded, the eyes, legs and beak are hand-painted. The whole figure is glazed. Two marks can be seen on the base of the stand: "Lorenz Hutschenreuther AG Selb Department for Art" and "Design Professor Fritz Klee Director of the Art School Selb" and in gold the model number 4, written by hand. Measurements approx.: height 7,09 in - 18 cm, width in - cm, depth in - cm This object is special for several reasons: it is rare, it is in good condition, it is from one of the most famous porcelain manufacturers, it is hand-painted, it comes from Lorentz Hutschenreuther's art department and it was designed by Professor Fritz Klee around 1916. Literature: Ellen Mey. Im zeichen des Löwen. Porzellan aus Künstlerhand. Die Kunstabteilung Lorenz Hutschenreuther, Selb 1918-1945 and Katalog des Deutschen Porzellanmuseums Bd. 97.
