Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Bust Signed Georges van der Straeten (1856-1941)

About the Item

This luscious bronze bust was done by the noted artist of his time - Georges van der Straeten (1856-1901) . Born in Belgium, but worked mainly in Paris, where he won the silver medal at the Paris World's Fair in 1900. This bronze displays that warm reddish brown patina, a favorite of bronze collectors. The subject of a shy maiden is well done in detail and composition. It bears his signature as well as a foundry mark from Brussels. An original antique bronze bust that displays beautifully.
