Bryant Barker Signed Patinated Bronze Bust Entitled "Alicia" Maddox Dupont
About the Item
This extremely well executed antique bronze bust was done by world renowned sculptor Percy Bryant Barker of the United States and dates to 1922 and done in the period Art Deco style. The bust is composed of cast bronze with a 'verdigris' patination, and is a lifelike rendering of his subject "Alicia". The sculpture has an inscription on the back that reads "Modeled from life of her 20th Yr. at London 1922" and "Bryant Barker signed in script. We believe the subject to be Alicia Maddox duPont, daughter of Alfred duPont of the well known DuPont family of industrialists and philanthropists of the United States conceived with his second wife. Alicia Maddox duPont would have turned twenty years old in 1922, and the DuPont family would more than comfortably have the resources to commission a world renowned sculptor such as Bryant Barker.
