About the Item

An antique brown patinated bronze bust depicting the mythical David after Michelangelo's masterpiece displayed in the Museum of Florence. The dark brown patinated bronze bust has a sensitively modeled face. The bust is mounted on a Siena marble base. Signature on the front. made in Belgium, circa 1900-1910. Measures: Height: 50 cm, width 26 cm, depth 23 cm Weight: 15,2 kg. Désiré Weygers (Belgium, 1868 - after 1940). Weygers was a sculptor and designer of medals. Education at the Academy in Brussels (1881-1890). After graduation he become a teacher at the Academy in 1891 and 1892. . Participated in several exhibitions including Ghent and Brussels. He had also created large sculptures in public parks and gardens and made facade sculptures, including for the town hall of St. Gillis, Brussels.
