A Fine Grand Tour Bronze Bust of a Greek Philosopher, After Mathurin Moreau
About the Item
This finely modelled Hellenistic style bronze portrait bust appears to be that of the Greek philosopher Chrysippus of Soli - regarded by scholars as the 2nd founder of the School of Stoicism.
The figure is shown draped in classical robes atop a waisted socle affixed to a squared base, the reverse bearing an impressed signature for Mathurin Moreau (1822-1912) together with impressed numerals 1709.
In very good overall condition and exhibiting a fine old patina overall.
Priced competitively in comparison with similar or lesser examples currently in the marketplace.

In fine overall condition and exhibiting a fine old medium brown patina with minor rubbing to the nose.
