A Large and Rare Patinated Bronze Bust of George Washington, after Houdon by F. Barbedienne Foundry, circa 1870. Very nice quality green patinated bronze bust of President Washington. After the famous model by Houdon. Bronze busts of George Washington are very rare and hard to find. This is a true collectors piece an an extremely well-done model. In overall good condition. Normal wear consistent with age and use. Scratches and rubbing to patina, some old paint stains on the back and two holes on the socle base (probably used as a lamp at some point. We can definitely have the bronzed polished and cleaned at the buyers request. A nearly identical bust is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Accession Number: 08.165 Measures: 21" high x 13.5" wide x 9" deep.
