Very Fine Grand Tour Bust of an Irish Gentleman
Carved in Italian statuary marble, possibly by Peter Turnerelli (1774–1839), a successful Irish-born sculptor of Italian descent working in Britain in the late 18th / early 19th century. Tunerelli taught modelling to the daughters of George III between 1797-1800 and subsequently was appointed Sculptor-in Ordinary to the British Royal Family. Commissioned for a County House in Ireland.
