About

A fine bronze sculpture that evokes motion through its play on triangular forms by listed artist Homer Gunn.

Homer Gunn studied at the Rhode Island School of Design from 1938 to 1941. He taught from 1942 to 1957 and was the sculptor in residence at Deerfield Academy from 1957 to 1969.

Among Gunn's many public (and private) commissions are the monumental War Memorial in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and sculptures for the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood.

This work is unique in its abstract form with no figural reference. The positioning of the triangles at slight angles gives its cubist reference. It evokes the hard points Picasso's famous, Les Demoiselles a" Avignon of 1907 and the sharp lines of Marcel Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase from 1912.
