A very detailed, exquisite statuette, entirely executed in bronze with the lost-wax casting technique depicting "Birth of Venus". The patinated bronzes figure is mounted on a beautiful marble base. Signed ‘Hunt’ on the base. Measure cm: H 60 diameter 18. About James Hunt, is an English artist born in the second half of the 19th century and died in Naples in the early 20th century. Artist made famous by the numerous production of neoclassical bronzes of the Neapolitan school.

Early 1900, Art Nouveau period, Venetian Gueridon column display pedestal attributed to the Vincenzo Cadorin school , in hand-carved walnut. Measures cm: Height 108, diameter 30. Cadorin Vincenzo (1854-1925) Venetian sculptor born in 1854, he was trained in the studio of Benvenuti, he then studied at the Venetian Academy. In 1883 he exposed his first works in Rome and in the next year he won the Gold Medal in the exposure in Turin. (Luisa GIORDANO, Cadorin, Vincenzo, in Biographic Dictionary of the Italians, XVI, Rome 1973, p. 97). His most known work is the gilt carved wooden desk given to the Pope Pio X for his sacerdotal jubilee in 1908; the desk is now in the Basilica della Salute in Venice. He died in 1925. Signature of the artist De Martino on the back Giovanni De Martino (Naples, 13 January 1870 - Naples, 3 March 1935) was an Italian sculptor active in Paris. Important Bronze sculpture depicting a boy's head in Naples called "Scugnizzo" Excellent quality and sublime workmanship, note the delicacy and expressiveness. The sculpture is signed DE MARTINO on the back. GIOVANNI DE MARTINO (Naples 1870-1935) very important sculptor known for the production of sculptures of small bronze busts, in particular street urchins, fishermen, common people, with realistic features. BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST Giovanni de Martino (1870-1935) trained in Naples at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. He moved to Paris where he performed small sculptural groups and frequently exhibited at the "Paris Salon", winning the Louvre Museum prize for the bronze work Le Pêcheur de criquets (The Locust Fisherman). Returning to Naples, he returned to a socialist realism and on dedication to the production of sculptures depicting characteristic Neapolitan types, in rascal species, "scugnizzi", children and young fishermen.
