About the Item
Coming from a Tuscan farmhouse, this enchanting marble sculpture is a valuable testimony to the typical Tuscan manufacturing of the mid-19th century. Hand-sculpted with skill, depicting the embrace of a son to his mother, transmitting the intensity and emotion of a daily, intimate and family moment. The sculpture rests on a base also turned in marble, which gives a visual and structural balance to the entire piece. Although the work does not bear any signature, its provenance and style certainly reveal its belonging to the circle of Tuscan artists of the time. The sculpture made is a journey through time, in it the artist managed to capture the simplicity and emotional intensity of nineteenth-century peasant life.
