About the Item

This materially stunning and elegant Art Deco Sculpture of a Woman Walking Borzois was created by the artist Georges Gori for the Company Etling in Paris France, Circa 1925 Features a tiered Black Marble and Onyx base, with remarkably beautiful geometric inlays creating a dynamic and rewarding support for this elegant multi-figure Gilt Metal and Bone sculpture with hand-painted elements. In the center of the composition stands a female figure holding the leads of two Borzois, also known as Russian Hunting Sighthound, one arm raised to lead the tailing dog forward and the other extended as though holding up the dog ahead of her, a beautiful contrapposto twist to the figure and a playful scene full of movement and dynamic postures and expressions. A well utilized motif during the Art Deco movement, this piece serves as a truly stunning example of the material precision and dedication to craft and elegance present in the work of Georges Gori and standard of the esteemed company Etling for which this piece was made.
