Bas-relief in sculpted and gilded wood portraying the Ascension of Christ. By ascending to heaven, Jesus fulfils the meaning of his resurrection: to join, with his body, in the glory of God. The celebration of the Ascension takes place 40 days after Easter Sunday and 10 days before Pentecost. In the lower part of the composition, the Virgin Mary and the twelve Apostles Flanders? 17th c.
