Baroque Faience Statues, Creil et Montereau, 19th Century

About the Item

A rare Rococo Revival multicolor earthenware couple by Creil et Montereau dates back to the 19th century. Standing an impressive 53.5 cm tall, each figure—man and woman—is dressed in richly detailed baroque attire, evocative of courtly elegance and theatrical poise. Made by the renowned faience manufacturer Creil et Montereau and signed "CREIL LM C", this pair is a notable example of Rococo Revival artistry. The couple’s expressive gestures and intricate costumes are accentuated with vibrant color, sitting atop equally elaborate bases that mirror the theatrical flair of the period. Their rarity—especially in this size and style—makes them a coveted addition to any collection of European ceramics, baroque art, or antique interior decor.
