Signed bronze work by the german sculptor Wilhelm Warmuth: "Warmuth".
Beautifully patinated bronze sculpture.
Depicted is a so-called weather examiner. This miner checks the gas mixture in the mine with his safety lamp in his left hand.
If possible, it should be "fresh weather", i.e. non-poisoned air. " Dull weather," on the other hand, contains low levels of oxygen.
"Bad weather" is mixed with carbon monoxide or other toxic gases, and "hammering weather" contains explosive gases such as methane. The miner could tell the methane content by the bluish discoloration of the flame of his lamp.
