Apprendista ceramista dall'età di dodici anni presso la fornce dei 'Fornari' ad Albisola, dopo varie esperienze come torniante dipendente a Livorno, presso la manifattura 'Bonfiglio' e a Napoli presso i 'Picone', Giuseppe Mazzotti, detto Bausin, nel 1903, nei locali di Vicolo del Pozzo ad Albisola, apre una bottega dove realizza comignoli per l'edilizia. Presto la fornace diviene 'Fabbrica di Ceramiche d'Arte Tradizionali e Moderne Giuseppe Mazzotti' e inizia la lavorazione della ceramica artistica in proprio firmando con le sue iniziali 'M.G.A.', i pezzi che escono dalla bottega...
