About the Item

A stylish Murano commedia dell'arte clown style art glass figure designed by Italian Maestro glassmaker Franco Toffolo and dating from around 1960. Toffolo worked at Venini from 1946 to 1950 and this figure is very similar to Fulvio Bianconi's Arlecchino figure of similar poise and also in red, black and white colored glass. The arched figure, wearing a mask is shown doing a backward hand stand with the hands and hair resting on a rounded white glass base with the feet to the floor. The figure wears a red striped top and black striped trousers with black contrasting shoes and mask. The figure is signed Franco Toffolo to the base. In good condition.
