Francisco Zúñiga (1912–1998) was a Costa Rican-born artist who later gained prominence in Mexico. Primarily a sculptor, he focused on themes of female nudes and motherhood in his works. Zúñiga's sculptures are characterized by strict composition, simple forms, and the portrayal of emphatic female figures.
He began his artistic career in Paris in the 1930s and settled in Mexico in 1936, where he had a significant impact on the Mexican art scene. Zúñiga became a leading figure in Mexican surrealism and the modern art movement in the country.
His works are now found in numerous museums and collections worldwide, contributing to the legacy of Latin American art.
