The beautiful goddess, protector of the woods, is depicted with a bow in her hand and is accompanied by a fawn. The work, one of the most important pieces of Melandri's production, was created by one of the Roman sculptors with whom Melandri collaborated. The work presents considerable complexity due to the size and luster of the ceramic. The work has been realized by Carlo Lorenzetti (Venice, 1858 - Venice, 1945) an Italian sculptor and artist. After receiving an initial education at a charity school, he was started as a sculptor, learning how to work with wood. In 1878, he joined the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, becoming a pupil of Luigi Ferrari and Antonio Dal Zotto. After leaving the Academy, he engaged in the activity of sculptor. Skilled portraitist and technically gifted, Lorenzetti painted various portraits of politicians, intellectuals, artists with whom he was in contact, often on commission from the municipality of Venice. Carlo Lorenzetti played a leading role in the institution of the Venice International Art Exhibition, founded in 1893 by the mayor of Venice Riccardo Selvatico, and exhibited his works in various editions, until the late 1920s. Always very close to his hometown, he created various works inspired by facts of the history of Venice and its characters. This object is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any object in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist, designer or craftsman who has died requires a license for export regardless of the work’s market price.
