Grand Tour Style Allegorical Bronze of Thalia, Greek Goddess of Comedy & Poetry

About the Item

The finely cast & patinated bronze figure of Thalia, one of the nine Greek Muses and known as The Goddess of Comedy & Idyllic Poetry, shown standing draped in classical attire holding a comedic mask by her side in one hand and a poem in the other, raised overall upon a stepped red marble plinth base. Demonstrating finely chiseled features & excellent proportions, and exhibiting a fine untouched old patina overall. No apparent signature or foundry marks, but most likely of French origin.
