A sensational and large-scale Italian 19th century Neo-Classical st. white Carrara marble statue of a faun with cymbals signed Bazzanti, Firenze. The striking statue is raised by its original Vert Maurin marble pedestal with a mottled circular base, Fine carved designs at the socle pedestal and a rectangular top which swivels. The richly detailed faun, a symbol of fertility, is sculpted out of one solid piece of white Carrara marble and raised by a rectangular base. The handsome faun displays a foot instrument while he stands aside a tree trunk. Wonderfully executed with fine details and proportions throughout. Measures: Statue height: 58" length: 38" diameter: 17" base height: 32" diameter: 24".
