A stunning and most impressive Italian 19th century white Carrara marble life-size statue of Madonna and child. The statue signed Gria Flli Lapini 1895, is raised by a beautiful dome shape base with lovely scrolled flowing cloud like designs. Above is the beautiful Madonna wearing a superb flowing veil and exceptional masterfully sculpted flowing garment while holding the handsome richly sculpted baby boy in her arms. Exquisite execution and wonderful attention to detail throughout. Galleria Fratelli Lapini (1848 - 1893) - Born in Florence. Lapini was a famous and acclaimed Italian sculptor of the 19th century who sculpted both small marble and larger works. Many of his subjects were female and among his most recognized works are Sorpresa, a young woman surprised while disrobing, Il primo bacio, Quanto ti voglio bene, Non Ci Credo, Fior del pensiero; La serenata, and Amore del mare.

A lovely and high quality true pair of Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statues, signed Cesare Lapini. Each wonderful statue is raised on a circular ground designed base where each of the charming young girls above are standing. Showcased on the front of each statue's base are the titles, with the left statue titled "Estate" and the right "Inverno". The young maidens each represent their respective season, with Estate being Summer and Inverno being Winter. The adorable young girl in her summer attire is adorned with formal heels on her feet while grasping a small bouquet of blooming flowers, and wearing a cute bonnet accented with a smaller scale flower bouquet on the side.
