About the Item

A beautiful and very high quality Italian late 19th century Trets and white Carrara marble statue by Pasquale Rizzoli. The statue, in the manner of Etienne Maurice Falconet (1716-1791), is raised by a most decorative circular Trets marble base with a superb double mottled and elegantly curved design. The wonderfully executed white Carrara marble statue above depicts a charming winged young man sitting a on scrolled seashell like base with a lovely ground design and beautiful richly sculpted blooming flower at his feet. He is draped in a fine flowing garment with exceptional attention to detail from the plumage of his wings to his curly hair while holding his finger up to his lips in a silencing gesture. Pasquale Rizzoli (9 April 1871 - 30 January 1953) was an Italian sculptor born in Bologna and was a student of Salvino Salvini at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Bologna. His most famous statue can still be seen today in the Park of Montagnola in Bologna, Italy.
