About the Item

A large 19th century Samson et Cie faience figurine depicting either Venus & the Golden Apple or a rendition of Eve with the Apple. We seen this figure called both. This nude Venus or Eve figure stands on a hexagonal base next to a tree trunk. In one hand she holds an apple; in the other a garment. A large painted leaf protects her modesty. The figure is decorated in blue and yellow underglaze colors. The base is marked with a script H V, cursive x and script L. Height: circa 18 1/4 in. Items purchased from David Sterner Antiques must delight you. Purchases may be returned for any reason for a period of 7 days.
