Large Art Deco Fisherman Sculpture In The Style Of Alexandre Ouline

About the Item

Dimensions: H x W x D: 55 x 65 x 16 cm Description: Large depiction of a fisherman hauling in a filled net. The cast metal figure rests on a slab of black marble and white onyx. A young man dressed only in a loincloth stands in a tense pose on a naturalistically designed plinth with waves, rocks and tree stumps. Apparently struggling against wind and weather, he pulls his catch to the shore. The muscles of his well-formed body are taut and neatly worked out. The figure corresponds to the work of the Belgian sculptor Alexandre Ouline (active 1918-1940). There is a maker's plaque on the base: Les Maitres Bronziers Christean Condition: Beautiful condition with slight signs of wear commensurate with age. There are two small chips on the back of the base, which are marked in red on one of the photos.
