Life Size Marble Sculpture of Venus After “La Venus Italica”

About the Item

This is a life size marble sculpture of Venus after “La Venus Italica” sculpture of Antonio Canova that is at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence. It depicts a Venus coming out of a bath and covering part of her frontal body with a robe, but leaving out one breast while looking scared to the side. Her curly hair is arranged in a ponytail and adorned with a ribbon. She is standing barefoot near an empire stool with lion paws feet over a round white marble base. The whole sculpture is supported by a square black and white marble base.
