Mayan King Pacal Obsidian Sculpture Mexican silver Fantastic sculptural bust of this legendary Mayan leader in perfect conditions. Measurements 30 centimeters height 21,5 centimeters width 10 centimeters depth The history of the Aztecs is deeply linked to the arrival to the Anáhuac Valley of the seven NAHUATLACA tribes, they arrived from the North from a place called CHICOMOXTOC (Place of the seven caves). These seven tribes were: Xochimilcas, Chalca, Tecpaneca, Acolhua, Tlaxcalteca, Tlahuica and Azteca. All of these groups had the same ethnic origin and came from the same place; They spoke the same language and had the same customs. The Aztecs came from AZTLAN (Place of Herons), which was located in California territory in the United States. It is believed that the Aztecs left Aztlán approximately in the year 1160, reaching what is now the State of Chihuahua Mexico, where they settled for some time. Upon resuming their pilgrimage they arrived at Hueyculhuacán, where they remained for three years. Afterwards they continued to Chicomoxtoc, where they stopped again. When they finally arrived at the Anáhuac Valley, they found the other tribes already established: The Xochimilca in Xochimilco; the Chalca in Chalco; the Tecpaneca in Azcapotzalco; the Acolhua in Texcoco; the Tlaxcalteca in Tlaxcala and the Tlahuica in Quauhnáhuac. The Aztecs traveled through various places until they reached Chapultepec Hill in 1245. The Aztec pilgrimage lasted approximately 165 years. The Aztecs took a long time to find the desired place. It was that their god HUITZILOPOCHTLI (Sinister Hummingbird) had promised them that they would find a lake with an islet, in which there would be a rock, on the rock a cactus and on the cactus an eagle devouring a snake. Finally the Aztecs found the right place somewhere on Lake Texcoco and founded their city there. This occurred on July 18, 1318. The Aztecs called their city TENOCHTITLAN (Place of the tunal on stone), and also Mexico (Place of Mexitli), as they also called Huitzilopochtli. They divided the city into four neighborhoods or "calpullis": Moyotla (S. Juan) to the Southwest; Teopán Zoquipan (S. Pablo) to the Southeast; Cuepopan (Sta. María) to the North; Xiuhcac Aatzin and Acacitli. Such were the beginnings of what would become the Great Tenochtitlán, proud capital of the great Aztec Empire (the enormous and beautiful city of Mexico today).
