Mid-20th century varnished wood sculpture of crouched lady by spanish author Godofredo Paino By: Godofredo Paino Material: wood Technique: varnished, carved, hand-carved, hand-crafted Dimensions: 6 in x 5.5 in x 13 in Date: mid-20th century Style: MId-Century Modern Place of origin: Argentina Born in Valladolid, Spain in 1894, Godofredo Paino relocated to Rosario, Argentina, where he became renowned for his woodcarving sculptures, particularly active from 1940 until his passing in 1962. He was the elder brother of Guillermo Paino, another esteemed sculptor born in Spain in 1899, who traveled alongside him and also settled in Rosario. This mid-20th-century varnished wood sculpture exemplifies Godofredo's mastery. Crafted entirely by hand, it depicts a crouched lady with subtly defined details, evoking a sense of graceful silhouette. Godofredo's work reflects profound expression through meticulously carved wood, capturing a timeless elegance and serenity.
