Impress Your Guests with the very fine pair German bisque man and lady Chinoiserie seated cross-legged and wearing elaborately gold trim and detailed decorated robes the heads, hands, and tongue articulated 19th century Meissen Style figures. Nodding pagoda figures with action moveable head, hand and tongue, known as a "Nodder.' The unique highly detailed Figures are an example of the European fascination with Asian culture in the 19th century. The beautiful figure smiles widely with dimples showing upper teeth and the removable weighted heads nod back and forth, tongues stick in and out, and her hands move up and down, his one moving up and down. One of its most prized figures whose, although rare, admiration continues to this day. The beautifully detailed faces and richly gilt embellished enrobed figures of oriental man and female achieve animation through a well-engineered system of counter weights which allow the tongue, hands and head movement. There is a partial blue Meissen style mark present under the lady figure. We spent many hours in our dining room sharing the nodders with wagging heads, hands and tongues with our guests much to their amazement and delight!
