Jasperware Buckle, Wedgwood, Matthew Boulton, Circa 1795
By Wedgwood
Located in Melbourne, Victoria
A jasper medallion decorated with Aphrodite, set in cut steel as a buckle, probably by Matthew Boulton. Original box.
The Greek goddess Aphrodite is often depicted in ancient art with a dolphin. In mythology, dolphins were considered sacred to Aphrodite, and they were associated with love, beauty, and fertility. According to one legend, Aphrodite emerged from the sea on a shell-borne chariot drawn by dolphins, and the creatures were said to be her faithful servants. As a result, images of Aphrodite with dolphins became a popular motif in Greek art, appearing on vases, sculptures, and other decorative objects. The association between Aphrodite and dolphins has continued through the centuries, and the image of the goddess with a dolphin remains a popular symbol of love and beauty.
Matthew Boulton (1728-1809) was an English manufacturer and entrepreneur who was best known for his contributions to the Industrial Revolution...

Bust of David Von Schulzenheim, Signed by Erik Gustav Göthe, Sweden, Dated 1821
Located in New York, NY
Bust of David von Schulzenheim, owner of Gröönsö castle, signed by Erik Gustav Göthe, a principle of Sergel and inscribed: David Schulz v. Schulzenheim. / MDCCCXXI plaster, Dated 1821
This is a bust of Dr. David von Schulzenheim, owner of Grönsöö Slott. In the 18th Century Grönsöö Slott was owned
by the famed Stockholm doctor David von Schultzenheim. Dr. von Schulzenheim introduced the smallpox vaccine to
Sweden and served the public’s health needs during its crisis from 1873 – 1874.
When not in public health service, he devoted a significant amount of passion and money to beautify the palace and park
in the romantic spirit of the time. The castle blossomed towards the end of the 18th century with the palace’s upper
floors serving as the residential apartments of the family and furnished in exquisite Gustavian and late Gustavian style.
Never one to rest on his laurels in science or design, in 1786, with the smallpox outbreak leveling, Dr. von Schulzenheim ordered the construction of a Chinese...

An exquisite and extremely high quality Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue on its original Rouge Griotte and black Belgian marble pedestal named "Amore Segreto" signed A. E. Rossetti Roma 1878. The statue is raised on its original pedestal column with a square black Belgium marble base and mottled socle shaped support below the circular lightly tapered Rouge Griotte marble central support and circular mottled top. He was born in Milan on 31 October 1819 and moved to Rome in 1843 where he created high quality and very desirable statues also popular among foreign visitors.
