About the Item

PLAY BALL Unique and poetic work. Bird and Humans sculpture ceramic. Made by a French sculptor, painter and ceramist, Pierre KOPPE. Greige and cobalt blue color. Signed on the back " Pierre Koppe Rozerieulles 1979 " Perfect condition. c. 1979 Pierre Koppe was born in 1931 and died in 2016, in France. In 1951, he entered the Beaux-Arts in Nancy where he followed a course of artistic studies, and this is how he entered the group of artists in his region. In 2006, he was chosen by the writer and director Philippe Claudel (Lesâmes grises) to illustrate his book entitled "Le monde sans enfants". Colors, materials and movements animate the artistic universe of Pierre Koppe in a real pleasure to paint. His painting is an imperative act without him ever taking himself seriously, he knows how to add a distanced humor that accompanies his characters. Portraits and whimsical forms mingle to lull us into the imagination of Pierre Koppe. A multitude of characters, large, opulent, small or colorful inhabit his paintings. Pierre Koppe is also a ceramist, and he also creates collages. The dimensions of these works can vary from tiny to very large.
