About the Item

This is an original metal figurine of a Dancer by Max Le Verrier / Pierre Le Faguays, called GRISERIE, and signed GUERBE, made in France in the Art Deco period, circa 1930 . The figurine is beautifully sculpted by Pierre le Faguays in collaboration with Max Le Verrier's foundry, as a dancer called GRISERIE which translates to "Intoxication". The figure is typical of the Art Deco period generally. The metal figure has a green patinated original finish and sits on a black marble stepped base. The figurine is impressed in the casting with GUERBE (which is a pseudonym used by the sculptor) Please note, that originally this figurine would have had a slim floral arced wreath, held overhead and between the hands. This is now missing but in our opinion does not detract from the beauty of this piece. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAX LE VERRIER, PIERRE Le FAGUAYS & GUERBE Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier, known more commonly as Max Le Verrier was a French sculptor and maker of Art deco figurines at his foundry in Paris. Today he is known as a pioneer within the Parisian Art Deco movement, creating decorative art objects often made in bronze as well as historical sculptures. Guerbe, is a pseudonym of Pierre Le Faguays 1892 to 1962. Monsieur Le Faguays sculpted Art Deco dancing figurines and worked closely with Max Le Verrier in his foundry in Paris.

Art Deco Lady Figurine Table Lamp Bronze Sculpture, French circa 1930
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a stunning figurine table lamp of a nude lady bronze Figurine sculpture made in France, circa 1930. The figurine is heavy and made of bronze metal with good detail. It has been cold painted with a green colour which has worn away in places, showing a patinated bronze colour beneath. The lady is stood on a round ball above a shaped shell like base. The figure is holding the lamp above her head with the electric cable running into the base and vertically up her back to the lamp fitting above. A coloured spherical glass shade firmly sits in the dished support. The light is currently fitted with a small bayonet fitting, the whole electrical fitting having been PAT tested for safety compliance in the UK. The fitting could easily be modified to suit the electricity supply of the country where it might be used . This piece is typical of the Art Deco aesthetic, with the sleek lines of the nude girl figure holding the globe light above. The lamp is in full working order. This is a substantial heavy piece weighing about 2.5Kg unpacked. Overall a beautiful original Art Deco Lady Figurine...
